Talks

Gaining knowledge is the first step to wisdom. Sharing it is the first step to humanity.

The Church, the Litten and the Good Life Hub (a beautiful converted barn) will host a schedule of speakers, all experts in their field.

Talks at the Litten will be focused on 'Me and my community', looking at what we can change and do as individuals and communities. Speakers include Michael Liebrich and David Waltham.

Talks at the Church will be centred around big topics such as biodiversity, clean energy, sustainable farming/enlightened agriculture, and pollution. These will be keynote talks, focusing on the UK, followed hopefully by a panel discussion. Speakers include Sir Brian Hoskins, Estelle Bailey and Michael Liebrich.

And at the Good Life Hub, the theme will be 'Join the dots', focusing on the impact of our consumption, exploring the supply chain and looking at both the environmental and human cost. Speakers include Ginnie Chadywck-Healey and Earth 51.

More information to follow but for now have a look at the Talks page from GreenFest 2019 to gain a taste of what you can expect . . .

Nature Zone

Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.
Albert Einstein

Climate Action Zone

Ordinary people have an important role to play in fighting climate change. Not only can you make your home more energy efficient, drive less, and eat more local food - you can also tell your leaders to take climate action.
Frances Beinecke
We are inviting nature related charities and community nature-related groups to come to GreenFest to share their expertise. This will include forestry, horticulture, agriculture, land and water.

Crafting

Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.
Mary Lou Cook

Product Stalls

In today’s world, it is no longer unimaginable to think that business can operate—and even thrive—in an environmentally-friendly manner.
Olympia Snowe

There will be a host of crafting activities, all free, for all ages from 3 to 93 (though any 94+ year olds out there are of course welcome).

We are still finalising the details but activities are likely to include making nature hangers, decoupage tiles, body scrub, original book marks (corners), and much more.

And we will be running simpler activities for the little ones to keep them happy while the grown-ups listen to the talks at the Litten.

We are pleased to welcome 30+ local lifestyle stalls selling sustainable products in a village market format.

To see all stallholders booked in so far, visit Stallholders 2022.

If you have products that match our ethos, and would like to share them with GreenFesters, get in touch at ourgreenfest@gmail.com and we can talk.

 Energy Zone

The future is green energy, sustainability, renewable energy.
Arnold Schwarzenegger

Transport Zone

If an alien came to visit, I'd be embarrassed to tell them that we fight wars to pull fossil fuels out of the ground to run our transportation. They'd be like, 'What?'
Neil deGrasse Tyson

Low carbon and sustainable energy companies and related organisations and businesses will be on hand to answer your questions and to share their expertise.

Picture
Electric vehicle, car and bike companies, dealerships and cycle businesses will be on hand to give free advice on everything you ever wanted to know and (perhaps) didn't like to ask.

We will also offer bike servicing and (free of course) bike parking.

Education

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
Nelson Mandela

Schools' Competition

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

We'll be running a nature school with lots of great forest school activities in the Shop Orchard, a terraced site with lovely views, planted with 65 heritage fruit trees. And we have the woods nearby so expect activities such as bug hunts, tracking and much more.

Picture
We are also running a school's competition - art, sculpture or video - on the theme of 'Nothing stands alone'. The entries will be proudly displayed for all to see.
More information on the
Schools' competition page.
Free to enter. Open to all schools.
Open to all ages.

Lifestyle and Wellness Zone

The best project you will ever work on is you.

The lifestyle and wellness zone will have nature prescribing, natural therapies, health and wellbeing groups. Some of these will be in the Shop Orchard, a large terraced site with lovely views, planted with 65 heritage fruit trees - perfect for reflecting and relaxing.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

GreenFest is all about helping to show what is possible. Workshops will be available for children and adults - why not go home with a bird box you have made?
Repair cafes will help change something that appears broken to something that continues to be useful. And you can participate in one of the UK's first ever eco-building experiences, using ecobricks to create different 3-D shapes.  What's not to love?

GIVE SOMETHING BACK

GreenFest is an opportunity to have a clear out of all those things you no longer need but could benefit someone else. We will have tie bins, bra bins, lego bins, jewellery bins . . .  and much more. Have a look on our Waste Not Want Not page for more details.

OK, a tiara may be overdoing it but who knows?
