Newbury & District Bus There is a bus service to & from Newbury to Hampstead Norreys. The stops are: Newbury Station or Wharf - Shaw - Hermitage PO - to Water Street Hampstead Norreys - Compton - East Ilsley - West Ilsley This is the only bus route that comes through Hampstead Norreys. So, if you wanted to get here on public transport from say....Pangbourne, you'd need to get a train to Newbury and then the bus. Train The nearest train stations are Newbury (20 minutes drive), Pangbourne, and Goring and Streatley (both approximately 15 minutes drive). Plan your train journey Under your own steam Cycling If you want to be super green, break out the lycra and get on your bike. Plan your cycle route There is a wonderful (and flat) route from Hermitage (nr village Hall) down the 'Eling Way' We offer free bike-check servicing all day. |
Car
Car Share If you have some empty seats and know other people coming to GreenFest, you could consider your car pooling options - Its also an act of kindness! Car Park public parking field is free - signs will be on the B4009 before you reach the village. It is a short walk from the field onto Hampstead Norreys Dean Meadow, the ground is uneven. (Hermitage - There will be limited, unmanned, parking at Hermitage Village School, so that you can walk or cycle down 'Eling Way' to the event) Disabled Parking is at Hampstead Norreys Village Hall From Newbury Take B4009 from Robin Hood roundabout. This road will take you through Curridge, Hermitage and straight into Hampstead Norreys. Alternatively, access Hampstead Norreys via the M4 Junction 13 exit at Chieveley, take the B4009 towards Hermitage and onto Hampstead Norreys. (the car park field is on the Newbury side of the village, on the B4009) - watch the bendy roads tho! From Reading Access Hampstead Norreys via the M4 Junction 13 exit at Chieveley. Alternatively you can come via Pangbourne and Ashampstead. From Oxford Take the A34 towards Newbury. Exit at East Ilsley and follow the signs to Hampstead Norreys. Drop off - Please use the Public Parking field - via Hermitage B4009 or Drop off at one of the Bus stops on the Newbury Route (Newbury Wharf or Station, Shaw Cemetery, Hermitage Post Office) and get the bus to us ! Hampstead Norreys is a small parish so please be patient as our volunteers park you! |
PARKING
The GreenFest Car parking field is located on the B4009 at (Hollingsworth Road junction) if you are driving in from Newbury direction. Please approach via HERMITAGE on B4009 if possible.
It will be well sign-posted. Please drive slowly nearing the village as we have plenty of bends! |
Bike parking will be outside the Hampstead Norreys School and Bike servicing is available on the Dean Meadow - free bike checks and tune-ups for cyclists.
Bikes are parked at owner's risk. |
THINGS WORTH KNOWING..
An Information Point will be located at the cross section where Dean Meadow and St Mary's Church meet. For information about what's happening throughout the day head here.
Its also a great meeting point and will serve as our lost and found for the day, First Aid Point and Lost Children meeting point. |
Car park field is on the B4009 just before the railway bridge if you are driving in from Newbury. It will be well sign-posted. Please car share if you can as parking may be limited. Don't forget there are buses running all day from Newbury Station & Newbury Wharf stopping in Shaw Cemetery, Hermtage PO and Water St Hampstead Norreys/GreenFest.. and back. The Cycle path (Eling Way) runs from near Hermitage Village Hall to GreenFest and is a flat, straight route.
