GreenFest is organised only by volunteers - of every age -   Please be patient and courteous with all our Marshalls and helpers at the event. 

​ZERO WASTE AMBITIONS

• We endeavour to reduce the waste and natural recourses it takes to hold a festival to help reduce the carbon footprint of our event.  Please help us by following our top tips for planning your day...
  

 

• Consider taking a sustainable transport option to visit us (help cut down on local emissions).  Car share, Cycle, Walk or Bus. (See below for more details) 
• Save the map to your phone so you have it to refer to (cut down on printing & natural resources).
• Check out the local Food & Drink vendors who will be there all day! (Shop Local to reduce food milage and emissions) 
• Bring your reusable cups/bottles.  WATER REFILL STATIONS: The White Hart, Hampstead Norreys Community Shop, Village Hall. (Cut down on 'single use' - resources, waste and packaging)
• Earn zero waste brownie points by bringing your own cutlery, plates and reusable cups & bottles. (cut down on waste and single use items) 
• The signage at the event has been created from donated pallets and donated paint & all the Zone boards are reusable. We have also borrowed signage from our local businesses, neighbours and the Newbury Showground (THANK YOU!)
• Some of the bunting & flags may be plastic or plastic coated but we've been using it at village events since 2010.  (Reuse, up cycle)
• If you do generate any waste at the event, there will be recycling bins around the village so please use these responsibly or better still, take your waste home. (We had one bin full after 4,000 visitors last time!)  
• ​Thank you to Every Can Counts for 3 free cardboard can bins for the day (Their aim is to recycle every aluminium can produced in Europe)
• Bring your own shopping bags or grab a 'Bring me Back' bag from the shop. The deal is you bring it back when you're next in the vicinity. Great excuse to visit us again! (Reuse and reduce single used items)

Route 6B are double-decker buses

Public Transport (supplied by West Berkshire Council) 
Newbury & District Bus
There is a bus service to & from Newbury to Hampstead Norreys.
The stops are:
Newbury Station or Wharf - Shaw - Hermitage PO - to Water Street Hampstead Norreys  - Compton - East Ilsley - West Ilsley

This is the only bus route that comes through Hampstead Norreys. So, if you wanted to get here on public transport from say....Pangbourne, you'd need to get a train to Newbury and then the bus.

Train
The nearest train stations are Newbury (20 minutes drive), Pangbourne, and Goring and Streatley (both approximately 15 minutes drive).

Cycling
If you want to be super green, break out the lycra and get on your bike.  Plan your cycle route  There is a wonderful (and flat) route from Hermitage (nr village Hall) down the 'Eling Way'
​We offer free bike-check servicing all day.

Car
​Car Share If you have some empty seats and know other people coming to GreenFest, you could consider your car pooling options - Its also an act of kindness!
Car Park public parking field is free - signs will be on the B4009 before you reach the village.  It is a short walk from the field onto Hampstead Norreys Dean Meadow, the ground is uneven.   

(Hermitage - There will be limited, unmanned, parking at Hermitage Village School, so that you can walk or cycle down 'Eling Way' to the event)

From Newbury
Take B4009 from Robin Hood roundabout. This road will take you through Curridge, Hermitage and straight into Hampstead Norreys.
Alternatively, access Hampstead Norreys via the M4 Junction 13 exit at Chieveley, take the B4009 towards Hermitage and onto Hampstead Norreys. (the car park field is on the Newbury side of the village, on the B4009) - watch the bendy roads tho! 

​From Reading
Access Hampstead Norreys via the M4 Junction 13 exit at Chieveley. Alternatively you can come via Pangbourne and Ashampstead.

From Oxford
Take the A34 towards Newbury. Exit at East Ilsley and follow the signs to Hampstead Norreys.

Drop off - Please use the Public Parking field - via Hermitage B4009
or Drop off at one of the Bus stops on the Newbury Route (Newbury Wharf or Station, Shaw Cemetery, Hermitage Post Office) and get the bus to us ! Hampstead Norreys is a small parish so please be patient as our volunteers park you!

PARKING

The GreenFest Car parking field is located on the B4009 at (Hollingsworth Road junction) if you are driving in from Newbury direction.  Please approach via HERMITAGE on B4009 if possible.
It will be well sign-posted​.  
Please drive slowly nearing the village as we have plenty of bends!

Bike parking will be outside the Hampstead Norreys School  and Bike servicing is available on the Dean Meadow - free bike checks and tune-ups for cyclists.

​Bikes are parked at owner's risk.

THINGS WORTH KNOWING..

An Information Point will be located at the cross section where Dean Meadow and St Mary's Church meet. For information about what's happening throughout the day head here.
​Its also a great meeting point and will serve as our lost and found for the day, First Aid Point and Lost Children meeting point.

We will be filming and taking photographs throughout the day. If you would prefer not to be caught on film please let the camera person know.

If you need directions, information or any other help on the day, grab a FestMaker OR VISIT THE INFORMATION point in front of the Church.

There will be picnic areas located on Dean Meadow and Hampstead Norreys Community Shop.

Car park field is on the B4009 just before the railway bridge if you are driving in from Newbury. It will be well sign-posted​. Please car share if you can as parking may be limited.  Don't forget there are buses running all day from Newbury Station & Newbury Wharf stopping in Shaw Cemetery, Hermtage PO and Water St Hampstead Norreys/GreenFest.. and back.  The Cycle path (Eling Way)  runs from near Hermitage Village Hall to GreenFest and is a flat, straight route.

Bike parking will be outside the Village School and we are offering free bike checks for cyclists on Dean Meadow from two bike specialist companies.
​Bikes can be left at the Village School but are parked at the owner's risk.

Dogs are welcome on a lead, but not in the Talks venues, the Village Hall or the Community Shop.
​Please make sure you clean up after your dog - there are dog bins along Eling Way, near the children's playground area on the Dean Meadow and near the White Hart Pub.

Visitors are advised that there will be uneven ground conditions, including natural undulations, pot-holes and rabbit-holes and that they are required to exercise due care and attention when moving around car parks, tracks and venue site.
