GreenFest is working with the brilliant Trust For Sustainable Living TSL (and The Living Rainforest), and the renowned lighting company Version2 (Strictly, IACGMOOH and Platinum Jubilee at the Palace fame), to bring you a family themed immersive experience created by spectacular lighting, information and sound. The journey will take you through layers of biodiversity (bugs, animals, birds and plants) and the climate (heat, cold, sun, rain) and show how it may relate to us in our own homes and solutions available to us all. The Downs School final year Drama students will also be on hand with their own creative interpretations, through the different environments.
What's behind the curtain?Trust for Sustainable Living (Living Rainforest) and Version2 Lighting have been working away for the last few months at creating a spectacular light and sound experience especially for GreenFest.
There will be 3 room sets to wonder through and wonder about. 1 - Biodiversity Biodiversity (Biodiversity refers to every living thing, including plants, bacteria, animals, and humans). This room will take you on a journey of the senses with light - light & shadows of the rainforest canopy - sounds of the rainforest - humidity of the tropics.. (light water vapour) with illustrations of the species on our planet and facts on their decline. The UK boasts more than 70,000 known species of animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms, but the majority of assessments indicate that the abundance of its wildlife is declining with the UK now one of the most nature-depleted countries in Europe. 2 - Climate Changes This room has interpretive lighting, depicting the heat of climate change, fire and the rising water levels.. plus pictoral information of the species suffering the most from climate changes around the world. At the end of this room is a solutions 'touch and feel' table showing items we could be using in our homes to help reduce our own carbon footprints and help us on our sustainability journey. 3 - Voices around the world Room 3 houses a video presentation by TSL of 'voices around the world' with children's hopes and dreams for the future, with a positive vibe... The experience will also welcome The Downs School Y13 drama and dance pupils who will be freely interpreting the animal sounds and stories within the room sets. |
